Munghana Lonene visited Soshanguve Block H at Halala Shopping Centre on 9 February to celebrate its 48th year with its listeners.
Pretorians have been complaining that the station does not visit and celebrate its birthday with them. Magunele Robert Nukeri, resident and member of Khomanani Munghana Lonene fm Club said, “I am very delighted that they have finally come and celebrated with us as Pretorian people.”
James Shikwambana, station manager said that they have finally come to Pretoria because of the dissatisfied listeners. He said that they wanted to show all listeners that they care. Shikwambana said that for 2013 they have started to celebrate in Bushbuckridge on 3 February and will continue to celebrate until the end of the month. Nkensani Nyango, Gingirikani, presenter, said “This event is successful for both presenters and listeners. It’s always nice to present in front of your lovely listeners. It brings happiness.”
Xitsonga music artists were invited by the station to entertain listeners. “We have come here to perform to the people, this is called Ubuntu. We maintain our customs, culture and tradition through the station,” said King Chauke, manager of Limpopo Poison musical band.
This event also invited the station’s fanatics from outside Pretoria. Listeners came from Soweto, Saulsville, Tembisa, Mamelodi and other places .Louis Masia, a listener from Tembisa at Ndulwini said “It is good that Mlfm has done justice and come to Pretoria because Pretorians were complaining. I am a loyal listener to this station and have been celebrateing with them every year.”
Munghana Lonene fm is looking forward to host other successful events this month. Next weekend will be at Ntlaveni and Mokopani on the other.
